Cake Sale

On Friday, the 26th of February we held a cake sale in our school in order to raise funds for our team efforts. We all chipped in in terms of providing the cakes on the day, however, we were really surprised when one or two classmates also showed up with some and reassured us that the school community was right behind us in the competition. This gave us a greater enthusiasm going forward in the Challenge. The cake sale itself was a great success. In the space of fifteen minutes we raised a total of €71.58 which we later gave to Marketing and Communications Manager, Eimear who was acting treasurer in the group.

Raffle

On the first week in March, we ran a raffle within the school to raise funds to cover our team expenses. The spot-prize for this raffle was a hallmark silver pendant, kindly provided for us by our sponsors G.L. Ryan's Jewellers, High Street, Kilkenny. Also up for grabs was a set of body cream, bath salts and perfume, kindly donated to us by a family member.

We created a marketing package given to all our potential sponsors consisting of a sponsorship letter and an informative flyer..

We decided a modern way to market would be to create an attractive and informative website which can be found here, at www.preskilkenny.com/Allegro/index.htm
We produced promotional biros, mouse mats and key rings with our name and logo to hand out to people to promote our team.

We were able to arrange an interview with our local radio, KCLR. This gave us a great opportuntity to market our team and create awareness about us too.

Posters

We decided to created posters informing people of our team and the competition and hung them up around the school and local area.

Flyers

We produced flyers which briefly explained who we are, what the competition is about and our progress to date. This was included in our overall marketing package which we gave to our potential sponsors.

We placed some articles in some of the local papers like the Kilkenny People informing people of our progress following our qualification for the Regional Final Stage of the competition and also following the regional finals..

We created a Bebo page on the website http://www.bebo.com/TeamAllegro a social networking website. We felt this was a great way to create awareness of our team to young people. Since we set up the page we already have many new supporters.
