Congatulations
to the Senior Camogie Team
who had a win over the Ulster champions in the All Ireland
quarter final
last week-end. They will meet St. Brigids,Loughrea, in
the semi-final.(Report).

On Monday Jan 23rd
our Cadette A and Cadette B volleyball teams
both qualified for the All Ireland quarter finals.
-
On Tuesday Jan
24th, 8 Spikeball teams travelled to
Carlow for the next round of this year's Spikeball competition. At
the end of the day 2 first year teams and 1 second year team qualified
for this year's Regional Finals.

Congratulations
to Denise Somers who won the recent Art Competition organised
by the Kilkenny Advertiser. Denise was presented with her award by
the Mayor on Wednesday Jan. 25th in the Mayor's office.

The
junior camogie team were held to a draw by Loreto in the
Leinster Final on Sat 23rd.. Loreto scored a goal in injury time.
In
the replay on Sat 27th Loreto won by one point.

Our Cadette B Volleyball team
have been doing well recently with victories over Mountrath, Carlow
and Tramore.

The
Junior camogie team will play Loreto,
Kilkenny, in the Leinster Final on Sat. 21st Jan. at 1pm in Clara.
There was no joy for the Senior team in last Saturdays final as Loreto
proved too strong on the day. The Seniors will now play Maghera, Co. Derry
in the All Ireland quarter final on Sat. Feb. 4th.

All-Ireland
winners:
After their great win in the Leinster A area finals recently
the camogie 7-a-side team competed
in the All Ireland finals on Saturday Oct 8th. and after playing
teams from Connaught, Ulster and Munster came away as winners.
In the final they beat St. Flannans of Ennis. Well done to
all. (Report)

Second Year Parent/Teacher meeting is on Tues. Jan 17th - 4.30 to
6.45 pm

The
Senior and Junior camogie teams have
reached this years Leinster Finals. They will play Loreto, Kilkenny
in both finals. The Senior game is due to be played on Saturday,
14th Jan. at 2pm in Clara, with the Junior game down for Sat. 21st
Jan.

The choir will
be carol
singing in Market Cross on Friday afternoon, Dec.
16th, and on Wednesday 21st from 11 am to 1.00 pm.
The CD will be on sale.
- There will be parent
teacher meetings on Thursday 8th Dec. for Senior 1 students
from 9.45 am - 12.15 pm and for Transition year students from
1.45 to 4.00 pm

Congratulations
to our Senior Science quiz team who had
a great win in the Regional Inter Schools quiz in Carlow and represented
the region in the National finals in Dublin where they gave a good
account of themselves but finished out of the prizes.

AGM of the Parents Council will take place on Monday 14th at
7.30 pm. Gennieve Crosby, chief Physiologist with the Health
Board will speak on the night.

Our Senior
camogie team have had victories over Callan and Thomastown
in their opening games of this years competition.

The Junior camogie
team had a win over Birr on Tues 13th and the Senior team also
won their 1st round match against Mercy, Callan.

Well done to
our Senior A Volleyball team who had excellent wins over both St.
Leo's of Carlow and Mercy Callan in the 1st rounds of this years'
competition on Tuesday 4th Oct.

Students who
gained an 'A' grade in their Business Studies in the Junior Certificate,
will attend a ceremony in W.I.T. on Wednesday Oct. 12th.

The Transition
years had a great time in Delphi and

week:

evening with special guest Micheál Ó Muircheartaigh. Programme

Congratulations
to Caoimhe Kenny who represented Ireland in the "Young Horse
Breeders" World Championships in Lyon during the summer,
where she came in second place.

Sports
Stars 2010/2011

Our open
night is October 4th at 6pm. The night will begin with
an address from the principal Mr Hallahan. The choir will then
sing. Then the students will be taken on a tour of the school.

Transition
Year student Sarah Moloney was chosen as one of eight finalists
in the
All Ireland Age Action “Big
Bake Off” competition.
To win her place in the final Sarah had to bake her favourite recipe
and describe in fifty words why it was her favourite.
This was a tremendous achievement for Sarah as there was no age limit for
the competition and many experienced bakers took part. Sarah was the youngest
individual finalist.
Cooks Academy Dublin was the venue for the final on September 9th. Sarah
cooked her award winning brownies and was presented with a piece of Dublin
Crystal and a certificate to mark her achievement. The musical
has been put back to February. T

singing auditions have already taken place and the spoken auditions
began yesterday (15th)

The Transition
years are off to Delphi this week
from Tuesday to Friday. We hope thay have an enjoyable time.

On Thursday,
May 5th, our Junior B volleyball team
secured a place in this years All-Ireland final when they beat
Stella Maris of Tramore by 2 sets to 0.
-
The Junior
B volleyball team lost out in the All Ireland Final.
-
On Tuesday,
May 3rd, the Junior A volleyball team
beat Swinford to reach the All Ireland semi-final but then lost
narrowly to St Raphaels school, Loughrea.
-
The
1st year basketball team
had a great win in the South-East Final with a win over Ursulaine
School, Waterford on Tuesday 29th March - score of 34 - 16.
It's now on to the All-Ireland series, which will be played
in Cork
on Saturday, May 7th. They had a great performance in Cork
but lost by a narrow margin.

The
minor camogie team
began their campaign with a good win over Borris and followed
up with a win over Enniscorthy. This qualifies them for the
Leinster
A Final. They were beaten by Loreto in the final.

who lost narrowly in the All-Ireland Final after a very exciting
game on Wednesday 30th.

Congratulations
to all our choirs on their achievements
in the Kilkenny Music Festival on Wednesday 7th. The school won three
of the competitions including the Senior Cup, which was the biggest
competition of the night, and received a standing ovation.
- Further success
for the choir was achieved at Kilkenny
Music Festival when they won the Millenium Cup for the most entertaining
performance and the Fr. Sheerin Trophy for the most outsdanding
choir of the festival..

The 1st
year entrance (aptitude) tests will be held on Saturday,
12th March. The following Tuesday at 7.30 there will be an information
evening for parents and guardians.

On Wednesday,
March 9th, the school will host the choir competitions for the Kilkenny
Music Festival. The competition will begin at 4.45pm.

National Spikeball Finals
UCD: Our first and second year spikeball team lost out at the
quarter final stages at the national finals.

Fri March 11th: Cadette A All-Ireland quarter and semi-finals.

Country C'ships - Santry, Feb 16th.
Junior Girls - Rebecca Kennedy, 4th. Qualified for All-Ireland
Intermediate Girls - Megan Morrissey, 7th. Team Bronze and qualified for
All-Ireland
Senior Girls - Aoife O'Connor, 14th. Team Bronze and qualified for All-Ireland.

We had 2 Spikeball teams
involved in the Southern Regional Finals in Kilkenny on Feb 11th
- one from 1st year and one from 2nd year. Both teams were successful
and will now play in the National Finals on 1st March.

Two basketball teams
were in action against Ursuline, Waterford on Monday 14th Feb.
The first year team had a good victory while the second years lost
out.

On
Wednesday, Feb. 9th our Cadette A volleyball team
travelled to Newbridge and secured victories over Newbridge and Elphin.
The team now qualifies for an all-Ireland quarter final against St.
Leo's of Carlow. Our Cadette B team also have a quarter final coming
up against Mountrath

There was no
joy for the Senior and Junior camogie teams as they lost out in
the Leinster finals last Saturday and Tuesday respectively.
-
On Thursday,
Feb 2nd, a large number of girls participated in the Leinster semi-finals
of Cross country Athletics. There
was great success in a number of categories.
In the Minor Girls Aoife Farrell finished 10th and has qualified for the
Leinster finals. Rebecca Kennedy finished 1st in the Junior Girls and led
her team to 3rd place overall and a place in the Leinsters. The Intermediate
team got 1st place in the team event after great runs by Megan Morrissey
(1st), Maeve O'Connor (5th), Rose Kennedy (6th), and Jessica Ivory (13th). Finally,
the Senior Girls team also finished 1st after being led home by Aoife O'Connor
in 4th place.

- On Tuesday, Feb
1st. our 1st and 2nd year soccer team beat
Coláiste Mhuire on a score of 5 - 1.
- The First
Year basketball team had a great win over Stella Maris,
of Tramore, on Friday, Jan 28th. They were narrowly beaten by Loreto
on Feb. 9th. They can still qualify for the next stages if they
beat Ursuline of Thurles.
- On Tuesday, Jan
18th, our Cadette A and Cadette B volleyball
teams were in action in Tipperary town against Lisdoonvarna.
Both teams have now qualified for the knockout stages of this years
competition.
- On Wednesday,
Jan 19th, our Spike ball teams travelled
to New Ross to take part in the Mini-Regionals. Two teams - one 1st
year team and one 2nd year team have now qualified for the regional
finals of this years competitions. This takes place on Feb 11th.
- On Thursday, Jan
20th, first year 1 climbed Slievenamon as part of the hill walking
programme.
- The fund
raising continues for the canteen. Over the next few months
we will see a concert by the choir, a golf classic and a sponsored
walk.

The Cooperation
North Choir sang in Farmleigh House on Sunday
December 13th. This will be broadcast on Tuesday 22nd
December, during a live programme featuring Richard
Corrigan. They have also been asked to sing on the
Ryan Tubridy radio show, live from Kilkenny Castle
an Wednesday December 23rd.
- Congratulations
to Laura Langton who came hone with a silver medal from the International
athletics in Glascow last weekend.
- Well done to the
Cadet Basketball players that beat Loreto recently.
- The first group
of Log On Learn students were presented with their certificates last
Wednesday. The programme was a great success and will be run again
in the new year.

The Cadette C and
Cadette B volleyball teams both progressed to the next rounds of their
respective competitions during the past week.
- The choir will
be carol singing in Market Cross on
Friday 18th from 2 to 4 pm and also on Tuesday 22th from 11.30am
to 1.30pm.
- The LCA had an
Art Exhibition on 16th December in the Hall from 1.30pm to 4.00pm.

- Well done to 2nd
year 1 who raised a total of €177.70 with their cake sale. They
have purchased a goat for a Trócaire family and the balance
of over €130 will go to Kilimanjaro Direct.
- The Transition
Years raised over €500 in a recent video/pyjama day in the Halla
Leachta.
