Minor, Junior, Intermediate and Senior Athletic teams
On Wednesday last the girls from Presentation proved once again that they are very much to the fore in schools athletics with some outstanding performances in this years South Leinster Cross Country Championships. This years competition was held on the grounds of Carlow town hurling club on a day that typically of cross country running saw plenty of wind, rain and mud.
The minor race started in the pouring rain and the Pres girls performed
well especially Rebecca Kennedy who came home in a fantastic 2nd place
in a field of 118 finishers. In the team competition Presentation finished
just outside the qualifiers for Leinster in 4th place.
Team placings : 1 St Marys Naas 20 pts,
2 Newbridge College 28 pts
3 St Leos, Carlow 38 pts
4 Presentation Kilkenny 42 pts
Individual Presentation placings :Rebecca Kennedy (2nd), Lorna Cullen (16th), Josie Carthy (24th), Eimear O’Donoghue (31st), Clionadh Mullen (64th), Charmain O’Donoghue (72nd).
In the Junior race much was expected of the Presentation team as they are
the current Leinster title holders from last year. In a big field of
athletes the Pres girls despite a fantastic showing did not get things
all their own way and had to settle for 2nd place in the team classification.
During this race the wet weather had eased off and Maeve O’Connor
came home alone to secure a fantastic win for the Pres.

2 Presentation Kilkenny 16 pts
Individual Presentation placings : Maeve O’Connor (1st), Catherine Murphy(7th), Aishling Nolan(8th), Ciara Farrell (16th), Tamsin English (21st), Claire Nolan (41st).
By the time the intermediate race began the rain had well and truly cleared
and this was the Presentations best showing of the day with Megan Morrissey
winning the individual title and the Pres girls packing very tight to
take the team award as well.

In the Senior girls race Presentation also took the team honours with
some more very notable individual performances and Aoife O’Connor came
home in 3rd place to seal yet another medal.

2 st Marys Naas 38 pts
3 Loreto Wexford 44 pts
Individual Presentation placings: Aoife O’Connor (3rd), Sarah Nolan (8th), Eleanor Kennedy (11th), Agnes Faida (22nd).
The Presentation now have Junior, Intermediate and Senior teams qualified
for this years Leinster championships that will be held at the end of
February in Dublin and have made an excellent start to this years school
athletics calendar
