The Transition Years have had their first two weeks of work experience on the week of the 3rd of november and the 10th of november.Students were working in areas that were of particular interest to them.For example; veterinary surgeons, hairdressers, the army and local primary schools.

Some of our Transition Year students were in the Kilkenny Army Barracks for work experience from the 20th to the 24th of October.

Some of our students are taking part in this year's Young Scientist .This project encourages young people from all over Ireland to research a scientic topic of their choice.Qualifiers will have their projects on display in the RDS,Dublin.9

Students are being encouraged to get involved in a recycling project within the school. A student recieves 1 point for recycling a plastic container and 6 points for recycling a can. Students with the highest number of points will be rewarded. There are many good prizes to be won.

Transition Year students are involved in this years school magazine. We talked to one of the editors and she gave this view, "The magazine is a great opportunity to voice our opinions. We feel that young people aren't heard in society today."

Congradulatons to Mr. Barragy and the first years. They raised €2007 for the Liam Mellon Foundation through hillwalking.

The senior A volleyball team lost 3 set to none to St. Marys, Naas in the all ireland semi-finals. They lost every set 25 to 19. laura langton came on as a sub to replace rosin dunphy, they played very well together. St Mary go on to play Claremorris in the Final.

On the 15January there is a 10 week communication course for €100. This is available to transition years in the school. All are welcome.

The 1st Years took a trip up to Dublin on the 9th January for the BT Young Scientist Expedition. Everyone had a great day!

Transition Year Students had a week of poetry, art, drama and dance from the 19th-23th Jan 09. They had an exhibiton of their work on the final day. It was enjoyed greatly by all who took part.

There is a cake sale taking place on the 28th Janurary in aid of Trocaire.

5th year students are viewing King Lear on the 28th Janurary.

There is a staff day on thursday 29th Janurary.

There are Parent-Teacher meetings for 1st years on monday,2nd Feburary.

There is an after-school tuc shop now available tuesday to friday. All stock is under €1 and is healthy.

1st and 2nd year basketballers playing Pres Clonmel on the 28th Janurary. The very best of luck to them.

The Cadette A Volleyball team narrowly missed out on the All Ireland Semi-Final to Clare Morris. They played 3 matches,firstly beating Clare Morris 2 sets to 1. They then beat Lough Rea 2 sets to 1. They were eventually defeated by Clare Morris in the semis,2 sets to 1.

The mock exams are beginning the week of the 2nd of Feb. Best of luck to all!

The TY 's will be having an art exhibition in Castlecomer on the 8th Feburary from 3.30pm onwards.

Presentation now have the winner of the Kilkenny Music Festival. Congratulations!
